  • Youmna Kfoury PhD Instructor

Youmna is interested in understanding how the bone marrow microenvironment contributes to hematopoietic malignancies. For this, She uses myelodysplastic syndrome as a progressive hematopoietic disease that can evolve into acute myelogenous leukemia & where there is an urgent need for new therapeutic strategies.

  • Francois Mercier MD Instructor

Francois research aims to better understand how leukemic stem cells gradually adapt in vivo to outcompete normal hematopoiesis, and how to revert this. To achieve this, I developed: 1) reporter systems of leukemic clonal evolution in vivo, for better functional characterization, and 2) whole-genome screening systems that use CRISPR/Cas9 technology in vivo. The overall goal of both projects is to identify new therapeutic targets.
