  • Taghreed Hirz, Ph.D Postdoctoral Fellow

Taghreed is interested in understanding the biology of prostate cancer and the complexity of disease bone metastasis. Using scRNA-sequencing, she aims to compare low grade vs. high grade primary prostate tumors and to identify the molecular regulators at the interface of prostate cancer metastatic cells and the bone marrow niche.

  • Youmna Kfoury, Ph.D Instructor

Youmna is interested in understanding how the bone marrow microenvironment contributes to hematopoietic malignancies. For this, She uses myelodysplastic syndrome as a progressive hematopoietic disease that can evolve into acute myelogenous leukemia & where there is an urgent need for new therapeutic strategies.

  • Konstantinos Kokkaliaris, Ph.D Instructor

Konstantinos aims to elucidate the complex interplay between leukemia-initiating (stem) cells and their bone-marrow microenvironment, during early leukemogenesis and relapse. As a member of Dr. David Scadden’s laboratory, he plans to implement quantitative multidimensional imaging and high-throughput single-cell approaches to contribute to the battle against acute myeloid leukemia, one of the most studied but still deadliest cancer types.

  • Michael Mazzola Graduate Student

Michael is a Ph.D.student in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program at Harvard University. During his graduate studies, he hopes to better understand how the fetal liver and bone marrow niches support stem cell identity and heterogeneity. Michael is particularly interested in post-transcriptional mechanisms that govern stem cell self-renewal.
